Ken Gritzan CTHS '77 Appeals For Support

Dear Alumni:

As you may or may not know, last August just days before his 14th birthday, my son Kurt was diagnosed with cancer. Our world, his life, was turned upside down in an instant.

Well, today I'm very happy to be writing you today to share some news - Kurt is now officially in remission! The 10 months during which he received chemotherapy and radiation were very difficult, but we now see the results, and without a doubt its been worth it.

We've been helped by many friends, relatives, and other individuals during this period. And I am hoping you are able to help in one more way. You see at this point, there is no definitive cure for Kurt's type of cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma, and for many other types of cancer. We need to continue to support the research and find the science that will cure those inflicted with this disease.

For that reason, I am asking for your support as I run the Falmouth Road Race August 8th as a member of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's fund-raising team here in the Boston area. Your donation would go towards cancer research helping to explore new avenues that could lead to a cure. After all, we can not stop looking, its our future and our children's future.

I hope you can contribute to the effort, in any amount you are comfortable with. And please share this with anyone you think may also want to support the cause. Prior to the race, I will receive a list of donors, and to honor each one, I will print their name on my running shirt, a way to take our steps towards a cure for cancer together.

Below is a link to an on-line donation website. Please share what you can. And thank you for all of your generosity.
